Ronald William Clark (1916-1987) was born in London in 1916 and was educated at King's College, Wimbledon. He began his career in journalism in 1933, and after working on various publications, he became a war correspondent for British United Press, landing at Normandy on D-Day. The author of hundreds of articles, Clark wrote books on subjects as diverse as mountaineering and nuclear fission.
